SUCCESS
By the time 1902 came around, Melies had made hundreds of films. He had moved the technology and technique of film forward so much from where he began. But, all of his skills seemed to center and were presented in a smoother and more streamlined way than ever before with his 1902 film, A Trip to the Moon. At 14 minutes long, it was Melies's longest picture up to that date and one of his most expensive, costing him 10,000 francs to produce. The film blew up in France and around the world. Melies was now more famous than he had ever been before. This allowed Star Films to expand and create branches in the United States and London. Now making more revenue than ever, Georges's film career continued with a promising future.
